Create A Black Friday For Your Blog

black friday for your blog

Today is Black Friday, the most frenzied shopping day of the year. Retailers today will experience a rush of people, with crowd sizes unmatched at any other time of year.  Wouldn’t it be great if your blog could have a “Black Friday” of it’s own?

The idea behind Black Friday is simple: Offer something people want at a crazy low price and advertise it beforehand.  When the time comes, people will be waiting outside the doors eager to get at your product.

There’s no reason you can’t do the same thing with your blog.  If you take the same approach with your blog that retailers do with Black Friday then you too can experience a rush of traffic and interest to your site.  And you don’t even have to sell a product in order to do so.

First, you are going to have to create or provide some great content that you know people are interested in.  I know, I know, easier said than done.  But that aside, if you have something interesting or newsworthy to publish take a little extra time to polish it into something extra special.  When you’re done, save the draft and schedule a date to publish it at least a week or two down the road.

During this waiting period it’s time to do exactly what the retailers do before the big sale: advertise and promote.  Announce the upcoming event on your blog.  Broadcast it on Twitter or Facebook.  Maybe even post a short excerpt of your future post as a teaser of what’s to come.  If you have a mailing list, insert it into there and get the word out.

Your goal is to create anticipation in your audience.  You want to pique their interest in what is to come.  Create enough anticipation and visitors will be beating down the doors of your blog the second your featured content is published, a virtual Black Friday of it’s own.

The beauty of creating a Black Friday for your blog is that it isn’t limited to just one day a year like it is for retailers.  As a blogger, you can handily create events like this several times a year.

Are you looking to shake things up a bit with your blog?  Want a rush of visitors?  Then why not try creating a Black Friday of your own?
